Amy Geist is one of our understudies for Motel 666, and she shares with us that though a long-time horror fan, too much exposure can be rough on her over active imagination.
Do you consider yourself a horror fan? What is your favorite genre of horror?
I am a fan of horror though I can’t watch a lot of it as I have an overly active imagination and sleeping after is sometimes tough! Hah. My favorite genre is suspense/psychological thrillers.
What was the first time you encountered horror in entertainment? Was it a book, a movie, a play or something else?
It was the Poltergeist. My father told me I couldn’t watch it because I was too young (I was) but I kept begging and so he let me. Smart man. Scared that shit out of me.
Does acting in a horror piece present any unique challenges or opportunities?
You have very unique opportunities to live through circumstances you never get a chance to otherwise like demons and creepy clowns! It requires you to be hyper aware of what’s at stake for you and what’s happening around you. It’s an exciting place to be onstage.
Have you done any horror theatre before, or is this your first time? What is your favorite part about being in a horror piece?
This is my first time! My favorite thing is watching the other worldly moments come to life onstage in a way I didn’t think was possible.
How have motels played a role in your life?
I’ve never stayed in one. Only Hotels.
If you could take on any role in any horror tale what would it be and why?
I would love to play a demon or devil someone super evil and powerful.
What is the one thing that scares you the most?
Home invasion. I do. Not. Watch home invasion movies.
