“Lovecraft’s naturally daffy plot is treated with the utmost seriousness and menace by director Shade Murray and his cast and that’s why it works. Which is not to say that the play doesn’t have a great deal of humor. In fact it’s screamingly hilarious, particularly scenes involving the two Marsh siblings, Barnabus (Bob Kruse) and Millicent (Mary Jo Bolduc) who are clearly as bizarre as the rest of Innsmouth but make incredibly implausible attempts to seem normal.
It should be emphasized that the comedy here is NOT campy but rather fully integrated into the very well constructed atmosphere of tension and dread.”
“… this is a very satisfying piece of horror theatre.”

“It is a cerebral horror story and a fine introduction to the Lovecraft mythos.”

“…The Shadow over Innsmouth is probably the best adaptation I’ve ever seen of a Lovecraft story to another format. It is definitely worth your money and your time.”
